“Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened” Luke 3:21 (NASU)

When Jesus started His earthly ministry He prayed and heaven was opened. What a remarkable statement of the power of prayer, but what does it mean for us today? It simply means that when He opened heaven it will never be closed again! When Heaven is open the glory comes down and all the supplies of heaven is made available to us. Today we can live under an open heaven if we so choose too because Jesus paid the price for us to come boldly into the heavenly realm to experience His presence and love at any time. This is now our daily bread if we will focus our heart and mind on His presence and closeness to us, for He is closer than our next breath. Listen to what John the Revelator saw,

“After these things I saw, and consider this, a door in heaven that had been opened and now stood open…” Rev 4:1 (Wuest Translation).

The door to heaven now stands open! But how many Christians are taking advantage of this great blessing that we have right before us? Few to the amazement of heaven! Watchman Nee said it this way, “Heaven is the abode of the church, not her destination.” We are to be living our daily lives sitting in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, for He is not some distant God from His people, but an ever abiding presence. Most Christians do not perceive, nor do they understand what door of fellowship with God stands right before them, and few are taking advantage of these privileges. Sometimes spiritually speaking we are like little children that do not understand the worth of a one hundred dollar bill when we have it right in our hand. We must ask God to make spiritual things more real to us then the natural world that is passing away.

You might be asking yourself right now, “How can I know of these deeper spiritual experiences in my life?” The first thing is to ask Jesus in your heart, then we must seek Him for the filling of the Holy Spirit every day as we come to Him with true heart felt worship and prayer which will always open the door to His presence.

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving

and His courts with praise.

give thanks to Him, bless His name.” Ps 100:4 (NASU)

There is something so amazing about heaven being open to us that words cannot quite describe it. There is love, joy, peace, strength, or whatever we may have need of in His presence when we are going through the trials of life. Oh what peace we often forfeit because we will not take the time to seek God’s presence or maybe it’s because we just do not know how, because we have never been taught to know Him on a deeper level. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide, He will guide us right into the presence of God if we will just take the time to ask Him and to get know Him on a personal level.

The key for us to stay in His presence is to seek Him at all times whether things are going good or not, for if we only seek Him when things are bad, all we are doing is using God as a big Santa Claus. If we are truly hungry for God we will seek Him because we love Him and cannot wait until we have the time and place to just sit quietly in His presence to drink in His love. Somehow sitting with the Lord brings Him great pleasure as we have heart to heart fellowship where words don’t even have to be spoken.

The devil knows that if we have no spiritual treasure in our heart we have nothing to give away to others. And the only way for us to get any spiritual substance is by us spending time with God and this only happens by us sitting in heavenly places dining with Him.

For years I have wondered about open heaven experiences that have occurred in my life-time for me personally. It first began happening to me in my basement in 1987 where His presence would engulf my room and I would wonder, “What is this?” One night as I turned my light off the room was illuminated with the glory of God like white smoke. Then seeking God became the priority of my life and all I knew was that I liked His presence and would come back night after night, year after year until He consumed my life. This has gone on for nearly 30 years, I pray that God would give me the grace to never stop seeking Him for the rest of my life, for He is my life!

There have been times when God’s manifest presence has fallen upon me and others, whether it be with one or more people. The times that it does happened is not just in a church service or in a Bible study situation, but it has happened sitting in a restaurant with others, or talking to someone in the market place. You might be wondering how I know His presence is manifesting? Because people are noticeably being touched and some are weeping before the Lord for no reason but that His Spirit is blessing them. For years I did not fully understand how or what was taking place, it’s not like we were seeking the Holy Spirit to manifest in some special way, but is one of those suddenly moments that God blesses us. Praise to His Name!

The Lord has been opening my understanding as to what is happening at these moments when we sense the door of heaven is open, even though they may only happen periodically. Our words can have the anointed power of God on them to release heaven on earth into lives of people no matter where they are at. It’s not done through our own will or timing, but His alone. God anoints us to be a doorway or a portal of heaven for others to receive His presence through us if we will just yield ourselves to the moving of His Spirit. For years I just left it play out until His Spirit stopped moving, but now when this happens I try to run with it and pray for anybody that will let me, even if it is in a public place. I will not be ashamed of the word and power of God because he is wanting to change lives!

“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9 (NASU)

Jesus clearly said that He, and He, alone was the door to heaven and nobody gets to the Father, but through Him. I want to make this very clear, without Jesus living inside of us we are nothing and can do nothing! But in and through Him we can be all that He is. “… As He is, so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17 (NASU)

Listen to what Jesus said we are:

1.     We are the light of the world.

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matt 5:14 (NASU)

2.     We are the good seed of the kingdom.

“And He said, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one” Matt 13:37-38 (NASU)

3.     We are the temple of God.

“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Cor 3:16 (NASU)

4.     We are a doorway or an access point to heaven for others to come to God through Jesus.

“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh.” Heb 10:19-20 (NASU)

In the Tabernacle of Moses and in Solomon’s Temple there was a veil that separated the room of the Shekinah presence of God from the people. It was called the Holy of Holies, only one man could enter through the veil (the doorway into the presence) one time a year with blood for the forgiveness of sin or he would die.

Today the natural veil was torn in two when Jesus died on the cross giving us access to the very heart and presence of God. According to Scriptures the Shekinah of God is veiled by the flesh of the Son of God, for we are to enter His presence through His blood and body. Now we can enter boldly at any time into the presence of the Father without fear because His blood washes away all sin, past, present, and future. All we must do is receive the forgiveness of His cross and enter into the Fathers heart.

“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh.” Heb 10:19-20 (NASU)

We are now one in spirit with Him, we are His flesh in the earth for others to find Him through us. We are the body of Jesus in the earth, we are the visible Jesus for all to see Him manifesting His love and goodness through us to a dying world. “For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.” Eph 5:30 (NKJV). Did you get that, we are His flesh and bones. Notice that it says in Hebrews 10:20, “A New and living way” that Jesus inaugurated for us; meaning; He initiated or started a new way for us to come into the Fathers presence through His body of Jesus. We who are saved are veiling the Shekinah glory of God just as the veil of the Old Testament was veiling it from the people that were living on earth. We the body of Jesus are, “The New and living way!” We are to follow His lead and allow others to come to the Father through our visible flesh by us opening our mouth and telling others of His love and inviting them into the Fathers heart. One day soon this will not be the case for the full revelation of Jesus will come forth from God’s people for all to see Him without any veiling of the flesh. This is called, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which the last book of the Bible declares.

Think about it for a moment, God used a person to tell us about Jesus, it was through their words that brought us to the Lord. Is that not right? For me it was Billy Graham that first shared the gospel with me when I was twelve. So in essence that person was a doorway for us to get to God. This is not complicated, but it’s the simplicity of the gospel. We must see and understand who we are and who lives inside of us and begin to live “The New and living way” that God has made us to be to a dying world.

“Having also a wall great and high, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve messengers, and names written thereon, which are [those] of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.” Rev 21:12 (YLT)

In the New Jerusalem, the church of the living God, which is the kingdom of God in heaven and on earth there are twelve doorways that lead into the city. Each doorway has the name of one of the tribes of Israel written on the door with a person attending it. Notice the door has a messenger. A messenger is someone with a message from the Father, and the message that they have is, “Bow your knee to Jesus and receive His sacrifice of the cross to enter the door therein.”

Jesus said to us, His body.

“I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Matt 16:19 (CJB)

Keys are tools of authority that open doors for us that others are not privileged to enter through. With these keys we have the power to release spiritual authority in heaven and on earth through our words and prayers, we can also close the doors of hell through our authority in Christ. Not just our words open the doors of heaven or hell, but our actions in the natural. If we do ungodly things we are opening a door to hell, if we are obeying God we are releasing heavenly blessings upon ourselves and family, our work place, our cities, and our churches.

Jesus said in Revelation 3:8 “… Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut…” The access to heaven is now open and we must use this authority to release heaven on earth to tell others that they can come freely into the kingdom. Is this not the Lord’s Prayer, are we not to pray heaven’s will and purposes to come to earth?

“He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, "I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants.” Gen 28:12-13 (NASU)

“So Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on its top. He called the name of that place Bethel; however, previously the name of the city had been Luz.” Gen 28:18-19 (NASU)

We the church are now the Bethel of God where WE are the messengers that ascend and descend from the heavenly realm to bring the glory of God to the earth. Bethel means; (The house of God). The house of God is to stay connected to God as much as the power plant is to stay connected to our house. We would have no power in our homes unless we stayed attached to the power company through the powerlines. The powerline of God to His Church is the Holy Spirit and by our ascending into the realm of glory and fellowshipping with Him. This is our spiritual life blood, without this we dry up and just become religious, just going through the motions to look like we are alive, but spiritually empty inside.

Once we have ascended into the realm of God and have eaten and drunk of His Spirit we now have the spiritual substance to descend back into the natural realm to give to others what we have just received from God. It may be a word from the Lord to someone who may need it, or just that you are carrying the glory of the Lord to release it into someone’s life.

“And He said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man." John 1:51 (NASU)

Just as Jesus was the doorway to heaven when He walked the earth, so now we are also the doorway for people to ascend into the realms of God. “… As He is, so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17 (NASU) When Jesus opened the door to the realms of God He did it for us, we are the messengers that are to ascend into His realm and get what we need spiritually and then descend back into the earth realm to give it to those who are in need. Several times in Scripture Jesus go’s up a mountain and then returns with directions for ministry from the Father. These natural mountain top experiences of Jesus were for our admonishment to do likewise daily in His presence. If you would like to know more on this subject of ascending into the realms of God get my book, The Ascending Lifestyle.

I have asked the Lord many times to show me what those in heaven wish they knew when they were alive on the earth. For me I feel these truths about us being a doorway to heaven are some of those very truths. The question now is, what are we going to do with what we have been given? We must open our mouth and share the goodness of Christ in our lives more than ever and see how heaven will work with us and respond to changing people’s lives.

Now that we know who and what we are; (carriers of His glory that have access into the presence of the Father for ourselves and others). We must find those of like faith to help us carry His presence unto the nations that are around us. When the ark of His presence was carried in the Old Testament it was done by four men, now is the time to walk in faith together to see God’s kingdom come in power.
