“And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.  And He will delight in the fear of the LORD” (Isaiah 11:2-3 NAS).

Having the Spirit of the Lord rest upon us is the desire of every on fire Christian, because they are so in love with Jesus they just cannot get enough of Him. These firebrands of the Lord will go wherever the Spirit will lead them to receive more of Jesus! There is no price, no mountain, no river, or ocean too big that they will not cross it to get more of God! Does this speak of you? If so, read on and receive knowledge of all the seven spirits of God to strengthen and guide you in your walk with the Lord.

Jesus said in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me…” within the limitlessness of the Spirit of God there are seven spirits of the Lord that consist of; wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, and the fear of God. The full expression of God was and is in the person of Jesus Christ to manifest the glory and character of the Father to all of creation. The unity of the Godhead is so massive that mankind could never grasp His magnificence no more than we can grasp the size of the universe that fits in the palm of His hand. Yet Jesus came in the fullness of the Fathers love to reveal Himself to all that had eyes to see and ears to hear and yet very few people could hear and see God in Jesus because of their spiritual blindness. Even His closest disciples could not detect the Father in Him until Jesus told them that He was the Fathers love manifested to them. This is why we must have the spirit of discernment to see the working of the Father in and through His people so that we do not go on missing great opportunities of God’s revelation of Jesus through His body.

This is why God wants us to pray continually for these seven spirits of the Lord that are found in Isaiah 11. As an on fire Christian, who would not want these attributes so that we are walking like Jesus? I don’t know about you but I covet the Lord’s walk of grace and meekness as He spoke and carried Himself before the proud religious elite and the lowly peasant. Jesus is in us to do just that! “Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21 NAS). How did the Father send the son? With the glory of the seven spirits of God to reveal His love and character to man! Jesus is in us just as the Father was in Him to manifest the glory of God because mankind is so blind to the fact that we were all made in the image and glory of God. If we really believed this we would be treating people much better than we are.

We must understand that there is the Holy Spirit’s influence behind each one of these manifestations of Jesus Christ. He not only has wisdom; He is wisdom, strength, knowledge and so on! There is a spiritual force or driving factor behind every spirit, whether it is of God or of the enemy, even though God will not force us to do good, the enemy will force us to do evil.

“To give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins” (Luke 1:77 NAS).

In this writing I want to emphasis the Spirit of knowledge that the Lord wants to give His people in the knowledge of Him, so that we can not only know of His salvation, but that we might experience it in a closer walk with Him everyday. For instance, if you were to become a nuclear scientist it would be a good thing to get knowledge of how close you can get to radiation before it would do your body harm.  So it is with the Lord, so that we can walk closer and more pleasing to Him everyday. “So that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10 NAS). This is God’s desire for us, so why not get all the knowledge of the Lord in this life time so that we can be as close to Him as any man who ever walked the earth!

There is a Spirit of knowledge from the Lord and there is a false spirit of knowledge that we call human wisdom, which comes from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But before I get to that I would like to show you how the spirit realm aids us in our receiving knowledge. The false spirit of knowledge will fill our head with worldly wisdom to gain more of this world’s goods of fame and fortune rather than losing everything to gain the knowledge of Christ.

“And out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:9 NAS).

There has always been, and still are two trees in the garden, and that garden is in our heart! What we feed grows and what we starve dies. If we are partaking of truth from God’s word we will become strong spiritually, but if we just eat worldly wisdom we will become strong in the world’s knowledge, but weak in our spirit man that is to live for God. We must understand that there is a driving spirit of the world that is constantly pressing people into the direction they desire people to go rather than to do the will of God for their lives.

The trees in the Garden of Eden are spiritual and not natural as we may think, the tree of life is found in the New Jerusalem in the book of Revelation 22:2 which are spiritual. People throughout the ages have eaten of this tree and will continue to for all eternity, because it is God’s truth that they are eating. Jesus is the Spirit of truth, He is the manna from heaven that God has given mankind too not only survive, but thrive in the time of darkness and spiritual famine upon the earth. We at this very moment are eating of one tree or another by what we listen to, watch, and read because we are surrounded by knowledge throughout our day. We live in what Historians call, “The knowledge age” because of all that is available to us through books, media, and the Internet. We must watch carefully how we are using our time, what we are meditating on because this is feeding our spirit man continually. More knowledge has been given to this generation then all combined, let us use it prayerfully and wisely to become like Jesus!

These trees of knowledge give us something to eat, either of spiritual value to cause us to grow in the knowledge of Christ, or junk food from worldly knowledge that will cause us to become like the devil and all his practices. This is why Peter said to us,

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:2-3 NAS).

“For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first” (2 Peter 2:20 NAS).

The knowledge of Jesus gives us grace, strength, and peace to live for God and delivers us from the defilements of the world. True spiritual knowledge is like having 20/20 vision in the natural, if we could not see clearly we would stumble around and walk into buildings and traffic and get ourselves killed. Yet this happens everyday to the unsuspecting Christians and unbelievers alike, they are totally unaware of it because they cannot see! “I pray that he will give light to the eyes of your hearts, so that you will understand the hope to which he has called you, what rich glories there are in the inheritance he has promised his people” (Eph 1:18 CJB). We cannot see these things that God has for us unless our spiritual eyes are opened to see clearly as He does, otherwise we are walking in darkness and when we don’t even know it. This is why Jesus said the blind are leading the blind and they both will fall into a pit! Jesus also said in Revelation 3:18, “… Buy from Me… eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.” God wants us to see clearly in the spirit realm so that we can follow Him more closely and are pleasing to Him in all things. This is truly living life on the highest spiritual plain!

“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, in order that we might know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 5:19-20 NAS).

If you were to ask the average person in America who was running things here, they would either say the White House or the Congress of the United States and they would be wrong! According to the Bible evil powers and principalities are ruling in the spirit realm and controlling the actions of mankind and the more people yield to them, the more they become like them. Have you ever wondered why so many good-hearted people have gone to Washington to change things and then ended up as a part of the system never having changed anything but their own views? It is because there is an evil force that is working behind the scene in the spirit realm that is actually pulling the strings of these people as if they were puppets. Unless a person is a Christian and is filled and lead by the Spirit of God they are under the control of the devil to do his will and not the Lord’s. For there are only two forces in the earth, one is positive and the other is negative. We make the choice!

“With gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will” (2 Tim 2:25-26 NAS).

When the Bible is speaking about the spirit of knowledge, the spirit of might, the spirit of the Lord, and etc. it is talking about what we are yielding too, because there is a force of good and evil in the world. Do you remember when the Disciples wanted to call fire down on their enemies and Jesus said to them, “But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, "You do not know what kind of spirit you are of” (Luke 9:55 NAS). There is always a spiritual force behind our words and actions, depending on what we are yielding too, sometimes it is easier then other to detect what spirit it is. If someone kills a person we know that it is the spirit of murder, if a kind word is spoken we can assume that it was from the Holy Spirit. I say assume because there is a tree of knowledge of good and evil and it has nothing to do with God and is grounded in the spirit of the world. For instance, you can go into a car dealership and everyone is so nice and smiling to you because they think you want to buy a car. Much of their nice-ness is rooted in the spirit of witchcraft that wants to try and control and manipulate you into buying a car that you really may not need. We must be aware of our spiritual surroundings if we are going to walk by the Spirit of the Lord and walk in freedom and not slavery.

The unseen spirit world is really the influencing power that controls the physical world, which we cannot see with the natural eye, but can see its outcome if we align it with the word of God, which is our plumb line for uprightness. Many people think that there is not a spirit world because they cannot see it, yet they cannot see the wind, microwaves for the cell phones, and TV, and radio signals. Yet they believe in this unseen world because they have more faith in the knowledge of man than the power of God. They have exchanged the glory of God for the mere image of a man that they can see, how foolish!

“And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters” (Gen 1:2 NAS).

“… “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts” (Zech 4:6 NAS).

Notice in these two verses how God wants us to rely on the Spirit of the Lord in this time of darkness that is on the planet even before the first man was created. The Spirit of the Lord was moving and is still moving, so we must walk in the Spirit of God’s ways and we will not fulfill the lusts and desires of the flesh. God’s Spirit is more than enough power to deliver us from the sway of the spirit of the world. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of truth, He is our helper and guide while we are in this earthly body to guide us into all truth and the knowledge of the Son of God.

In this age of knowledge most people are being overloaded with worldly knowledge that is causing them to be worldly wise men rather than spiritual men. They are dumber than a bag of rocks when it comes to knowing God and the truth of Jesus Christ that sets them free from the powers of death and hell. “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim 3:7 NAS). God wants to open their understanding to spiritual truth, which is true reality, but they must come to Him and He alone will open their eyes to see truth. But most will not humble themselves in simple repentance and come to Him alone because they want to live their lives according to the stronghold that has them bound in lies and deceptions. “Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2:4 NAS). God wants to reveal Himself to mankind through the knowledge of Jesus Who came to set them free from sin and death.

When it comes down to it, the message of the truth is very simple if we will first believe that God loves us and that He gave His Son so that we could draw closer to Him in real knowledge and truth in Jesus Christ. Paul said in Colossians 2:2-3, “That their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Do you want true and lasting riches that will not fade away in death? For true wealth only comes from the person of Jesus Christ Whom it is all hidden, seek Him with all your heart as you were to look for gold that parishes with the using, but true lasting riches will be yours for eternity in Christ.

“And have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him” (Col 3:10-11 NAS).

When I was a young person I did not like to read, like a lot of kids I guess, because I was not good at it and it was a lot of work for me and I needed a tutor to teach me. It was much easier watching TV or playing outside with my friends rather than being board staring into a book. Yet Paul tells us to do away with childish things because it takes discipline to get knowledge through reading the word of God and great books, but really it takes a hunger to know God more and more each day. When I became hungry for more of God I desired to learn more through books and tapes until I was reading several books a month when I had only read one book throughout all of high school and now God has me writing them.

We cannot have our mind renewed until we take time to study and seek after God with all of our hearts and this will bring us to take time to read. Readers are leaders because they have knowledge and wisdom from reading, you can tell if a person likes to read by the depth of their understanding and speech in the things of God or if they are shallow. We have been given more than any generation before us so let us use what we can get for the glory of God in teaching other to know Him.

We are being renewed in true knowledge of the Son of God when we behold His glory in the word, a person, and in nature with our spiritual eyes being opened to see His greatness and majesty in all that is around us. I believe that true knowledge comes when we spend time in the presence of the Lord just sitting there drinking in His glory. These are great times when God downloads into our spirit man revelation and truths about Himself and we do not even know it! There has been several times in my life that I can feel and see into the realm of the spirit where a shaft of light either goes into my head or spirit.

There is only one thing that truly pleases God, and that is GOD! When the Father said of the Son, “In Whom I am well pleased.” He was saying in effect that the Son looked like the Father in all respects and is the exact representation of Me. That’s what God is looking for in us to bring forth the manifestation of Jesus Christ in the earth today. When we are fully pleasing to the Lord is when we are walking in fruitfulness and increasing in the knowledge of the Lord; that pleases God. Enoch pleased God because He walked with God by faith and sought His face diligently and became like God in character. Now that alone must be our primary goal in life.

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Eph 1:17 NKJV).

Jesus does not just possess the seven spirits of God; He is the manifestation of each of one of these in all their fullness. And because of His abiding presence in us we possess each one of these attributes in all their fullness because of Who He is in us. Many Christians do not know this wonderful truth in reality because they do not know Him or the word because they have spent little time, if any, in His manifest presence for Him to reveal Himself in such a way. God wants to open the eyes of the church to give them the hope of their calling if they will just come and sit with Him out of a heart of love and seek His face daily. He will then begin to reveal Himself as the spirit of Wisdom to know the full revelation of the Son and their relationship and calling with Him in the kingdom of God to fulfill it.

We must have this revelation in the knowledge of Him together as the body of Christ if we are to build and manifest the kingdom of God on the earth as we pray in the Lords prayer for His kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven. This can and will be done through a people that are called, chosen, prepared and has given up their life to follow Him where and however He may lead them so that they will die to self, that Christ may live in them. God’s ways are not our ways and we will not figure out what He is doing in our life when we are going through this dying process. We will have to cry out to God for strength and grace because we do not understand what is happening in our lives. This is God’s way of killing self in our life so that He can manifest Himself through us, to the point we are dead to self He can and will fill us. Even if you lose everything God may give it all back and more if you chose to worship and thank Him through it all. Never stop counting the cost because if you look at your losses in the natural you will get discouraged and stop following Him because the price is too high. But if you will look on your spiritual life and see how much more you are like Jesus through your trials then you were before, you will be encouraged to get even closer to Him because He has been so good to you. Just love Him for Who He is and that will get you through your trials, God will not give you more than you can bear. Your trials will not last forever and will pass, and when you look back on them you will be glad for them because you will see what they have produced in and through you, the nature and the knowledge of Christ.

God’s perfect will for us is to increase in the knowledge and revelation of His Son’s likeness and character to do His will. This knowledge will not be head knowledge, but heart knowledge through the experience of knowing Him more through each testing and through the experiencing of His knowledge of love that will surpass all head knowledge. “And to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God” (Eph 3:19 NAS). This surpassing knowledge of Christ is needed by every Christian so that we will be prepared for all the fullness of God to come forth in and through us.

God’s word to all who will not seek Him for the greater knowledge of Christ are asleep! “Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame” (1 Cor 15:34 NKJV). “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim 3:7 NAS). Let this not be spoken of us because we would not discipline ourselves to spend time with the Lord, but we had time to do everything else but spend time with Him, this is not the way of God’s overcoming son. Our testimony should be like that of Paul’s when he wrote:

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Phil 3:8 NKJV).

I leave you with the words of Peter, both of blessing and of grace upon us to finish unto the day of eternity.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the” glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18 NAS).
