REVIVAL OUTPOURING
By Dan Luehrs
I have had the privilege to be a part of several
outpourings of God’s glory since the 1980’s. In the 80’s it was all so new to
me and I did not fully understand what was taking place, but I knew that I
liked the moving of God’s Spirit and wanted more of Him no matter the price or
how far I would need to travel to get more of Him. I just was hungry for God!
In the 90’s God was doing a new thing with the laughter revival in Lakeland,
Florida with Rodney Howard Brown which came to our little church that I was pastoring
in Winner, South Dakota that changed my life so dramatically that I would never
be the same again.
God was already on the move in our church
starting in January of 1995 with a visitation from Jesus. He came through the
wall of my home one Sunday evening after church and stood before me and said,
“My coming is soon, you must prepare My people, I will give you messages to do
so.” After this the Lord sent me to Springfield, Missouri for a Signs and
Wonders Conference at the Headquarters for the Assemblies of God. To be honest
with you, this was the last place that I thought I would find revival! But
there was a man there that I had never heard of from Argentina named Claudio
Freidzon who laid hands on me and prayed for me to receive the fire of God and
I surely did!
Shortly after this Stephen Strader came to our
church from the epicenter of the revival from Lakeland carrying the glory of
the Lord with him in May of 1995. I had no idea that this experience would put
me on a trajectory to go higher and higher into the things of God. I would not
exchange anything that has happened since then, all the trials, tribulations,
and joys for all that God has done in me and for me. I am eternally grateful
for a loving God that would reveal Himself unto me.
After this the Brownsville Revival started in
Pensacola, Florida in June on Father’s Day 1995. I would travel down there
several times and drink in as much of God as I could, when Steve Hill the
evangelist would lay hands on me so that I would become a fire brand for God
and could not wait to release the glory of the Lord with this new impartation
He had given to me. Not knowing that there would be many more years of training
and preparation for the glory of the Lord.
In 2008 God would visit His people once again in
Lakeland, Florida with an even greater outpouring of God’s glory then I had
experienced before. This time the evangelist was overweight, poorly dressed,
and covered with tattoos! His name was Todd Bentley from Canada. The first time
I heard him speak was in South Carolina years before, and I thought then, “He
was one of the most boring preachers I had ever heard!” When I saw that he was
coming to have a revival in Lakeland I now laughed to myself and said, Todd
Bentley? Sure enough, one of the most powerful outpourings that I had
personally experienced was through this man of God that would change my life
even more to seek God. Tens of thousands of people would come from all over the
world night after night to experience the glory of the Lord, it was so exciting
to see and hear all the testimonies of what God was doing in people's lives.
A CHANGE CAME
When I could not make it over to Lakeland from
Kissimmee, Florida I would watch the revival on the internet in my home. There
were times when there was such a powerful anointing upon Todd that I would cry
out to God and say, “How can such a powerful anointing be upon one man?” Many
times, the anointing was so heavy on Todd that he would just lay down on the
stage. At first, I did not understand this until I was on stage with him being
prayed for and the weight of God’s glory was so heavy that I felt like I would
go through the stage.
After this prayer I went to Africa and the
Philippines and then on to California for several weeks preaching. When I had
the time, I would watch the Lakeland Outpouring online. But something had
changed in the weeks I was gone; the glory was not as evident anymore. In fact,
Todd now took to the road and was preaching in other cities across the country
and others were trying to hold the line in Lakeland, but to no avail. The great
weightiness of God’s glory was now gone, and I did not understand why. Why did
God so choose to use a man that He knew was not living an upright lifestyle and
why could that glory anointing not flow through one of the other preachers
after Todd had left the scene? These answers have dogged me for twelve years; I
now finally feel that I have some answers from the Lord about this.
RIVERS OF LIVING WATER WILL FLOW THROUGH YOU
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast,
Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to
Me and drink. "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his
innermost being will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke of the
Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not
yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39 (NASU)
It was the Great last day of the Feast of
Tabernacles when Jesus stood up and cried out from His innermost being for
those who are thirsty to come to Him and drink. This is the first clue, our
being thirsty for more of God, it is essential for us to be a part of this last
days Great Feast of God, it is for those who are thirsty that the RIVERS of
GLORY will flow through! Thirsty people attract thirsty people, for that is
what propels revival, thirsting for more of God. I see this as a sign to us
from the Lord to the Sons of God. The Feast of Tabernacles is the very last
feast that has not yet been experienced in the church age. The church has
experienced the Feast of Passover with salvation in Jesus, and we have
experienced the Feast of Pentecost with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. But we
have not yet experienced the fullness of God’s Spirit which is the Feast of
Tabernacles, the last Great Feast for the Sons of God, which is the river of
God flowing through us to a thirsty world. This is the Great Revival Outpouring
that we have all waited and longed for. The time is now!
“Then he showed me a river of the water of life,
clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” – “The Spirit
and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say,
"Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes
take the water of life without cost.” Rev 22:1, 17 (NASU). The river of the
Holy Spirit will flow out of us who are the city of God and we will give His
life unto the nations as they drink of Jesus just as the woman at the well did.
I have great news for you, when the true Revival Outpouring of God begins, it
will never end! The Holy Spirit will flow continually through us throughout
eternity, what a bright and powerful future we have in God!
There are some really exciting days coming to the
earth, the days of glory will be the Feast of Tabernacle fulfilled in the lives
of God’s people as we give the world a drink of Jesus. But we ourselves must be
thirsty and drinking of the springs of the water of life if we are to be
manifested as the Sons of God, so that we can give Him away to others. Listen
to the words of Jesus, “…I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of
the water of life without cost. “He who overcomes will inherit these things,
and I will be his God and he will be My son” Rev 21:6b-7 (NASU). The overcomers
are those who are thirsting for more and have inherited the life of Jesus by
spending time with Him and drinking Him in. We are the true drinkers, never
getting enough! The river of life is ready to break forth from the church like
something we have not seen before, this will be the true Reformation of the
church, changing everything. We must be ready!
This is going to be so glorious for those who are
ready for the outpouring of God, but it will be a fearful judgment for those
who oppose Him. The very next verse in Revelation 21:8 says that the fire and
brimstone of God will judge these cowards and evil people for not coming to the
Son of God for a drink to set them free. Their judgment will be just because
they have turned away the very life of the Son of God to live in their own
filth and death.
What I have seen and experienced through these
latest outpourings of God, is that He has chosen unique individuals to pour
through so that we are all ready for the great outpouring that is about to
burst forth on the scene of the world stage. Even though these people were and
are all so different from one another, God still used them to show of His great
diversity in the body of Christ. Just remember, He can and will use anyone that
is available and is thirsty for Him, that means you and me! After all, did not
God use fishermen?
One of my first experiences with the glory was
when I was in an adult Sunday school class. I had seen the glory of the Lord
touch many hearts with just a few words. I was not teaching this class but
another man from the church was. I was sitting in the back of the class just
observing the class when a question was addressed to me. When I spoke, I could
feel that there was a heavy presence of the Lord on my words. Within a few
seconds people were crying across the room, including myself. It had felt like
a move of God had started in that room and I pondered as what to do because the
main church service was about to begin in the sanctuary, and I did not know how
to carry this over to the rest of the people in the church that now had begun
in the hearts of the people that were present. In my lack of experience with
the moving of God, I often wondered what would have happened if I would have
just kept it going and let the people come to us. I trust I will get this
chance again before I go to be with Jesus on the other side.
We are carriers of the glory of Jesus! He is in
all of us that are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. Those who are
spending time with Him now and are staying filled and overflowing will release
the next great outpouring of glory. The flood gates are even now opening in the
lives of many Christians as we release all of what God has given to us until we
have waters to swim in so that one billion people will come in and drink of
these living waters that flow out of us. The flood of God’s glory is coming
through the lives of His Sons even now as we open our mouths to speak the word
of God. That is where the glory of the Lord is released, our mouths, when we
open them wide for God to flow out of them!
JOEL’S ARMY
…As the dawn is spread over the mountains, so
there is a great and mighty people; there has never been anything like it, nor
will there be again after it to the years of many generations. A fire consumes
before them and behind them a flame burns. Joel 2:2-3 (NASU)
Joel’s army is now coming forth on the earth with
great power, glory, and manifestation. “Alas for the day! For the day of the
Lord is near, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.” Joel 1:15
(NASU). Please hear me, those of us who are thirsting for more of God will be
blessed beyond measure in the day of the Lord’s glory, but to those unprepared
in the church, God’s presence and power will seem like hell to them because
they are stuck in religion that is lifeless. “Before them the people are in
anguish; all faces turn pale.” Joel 2:6 (NASU). They will look at us like the
Pharisees of old looked at Jesus and the apostles as reprobate, but even many
of these will come back into the fold when they see the workings of God in the
lives of His people and they will come rushing back into the kingdom of God for
Him to save them and change them into His image.
The Lord utters His voice before His army;
Surely His camp is very great,
For strong is he who carries out His word.
The day of the Lord is indeed great and very
awesome,
And who can endure it?
Joel 2:11
There were many great men and women of God that
have gone before us to prepare the way. It is best for us to learn all that
they have written and recorded so that we will know all the pitfalls that goes
along with the glory of God, there are many. I think one of the greatest pits
that we can fall into is, “PRIDE!” We must always remember that God can and
will put us aside if we fall into the pit of pride and flow through someone
else that is more honoring of the presence of Jesus. It is by the hand of God that
this glory power is released through and not the will or power of man.
It is through these people of old that the Lord
had moved through. God has always chosen a person on the basis of their hunger
and seeking of Him. God has always used a person to flow through, we are all
that He has in the earth, I have never heard of an angel appearing in the flesh
other than Jesus to do the work of God. God has chosen you!
FLOODGATES ARE OPENING NOW
“… On that day all the fountains of the great
deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” Genesis 7:11
(NASU)
What I see the Lord doing now is preparing a
people that He is going to open the flood gates in us of glory
until the whole earth is flooded with the glory of God, so much so, that it will
be as the days of Noah, but this time flooding the earth with His glory. Did
not Jesus say that His return would be just as in the days of Noah? We are the
earth that He is opening up, the outpouring of God’s glory will come through
His people like never before and flooding the earth killing the sinful flesh in
every person on the planet. Praise God the enemy of God will be finally done
away with!
This will now take place through the Sons of God
as it happened in the life of Jesus, but even greater, until the whole earth is
covered with the knowledge of God. "For the earth will be filled with the
knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” Hab 2:14
(NASU). The Prophet Habakkuk was living in a time much like ours with evil seemingly
going unchecked by God, which bewildered Habakkuk as it does us. But God told
Him to hold on because He was sending a flood of His glory to judge the earth,
that is where we are at right now!
Four rivers flowed out of the garden of Eden; the
garden is now on the inside every believer because Jesus lives in us. He is the
garden, when Jesus said that rivers of living waters would flow out of His
people this is what He was referring too, His life will flow out of the garden
of our heart into the four corners of the earth through the power of the Holy
Spirit. When the people of Israel suffered in the wilderness without water, God
told Moses to strike the rock and water would flow for the people to drink in
the dry desert. “And all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking
from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ” 1 Cor 10:4
(NASU). God is now going to flow through His Sons into this desert land of the
church, that is, all they that will come and take a drink. This is the answer
to the world's great need, all we must do is give them a drink of Jesus.
The river of God is found in the first book of
the Bible and throughout the whole book and when we come to the last pages of
the book of Revelation, we find the river is still flowing out from the city of
God into the nations. We are that city, the New Jerusalem. Get ready, get
ready, for the great outpouring of glory is coming through those who are ready
to release Him in the nations. All of our trials and tribulations in life were
only to prepare us for what is coming. Satan thought that he had us under his
thumb, but it was only a set up by God so that we would have compassion on the
people of the world and not judge them as they are, but to give them a drink of
the grace of God.
