ASCENDING EVEN HIGHER
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus… (Heb 6:19-20 NKJV).
Our Forerunner-Jesus has ascended far above the heavens to open the way for us to the throne of God, so that now we can come boldly into His presence without fear of reprisal. This is the hope in us, which is both sure and steadfast that enters into His presence. In other words, the highway or the “higher-way” to ascend into the realms of God is finished because Jesus is the stairway for us to enter God’s presence. This right has been given to us to go in daily, hourly and every second of our life if we choose to because we are covered with the blood of Jesus. The way is now opened because Jesus is the Way, [the stairway to heaven] inside of each of us. Now all we must do to enter His presence is to go through His gates and His courts with thanksgiving, praise, and worship!
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name (Ps 100:4 NAS).
To some this may sound a bit confusing or to simple because they have not been taught on how to walk in spiritual places while they are living on earth. We must understand that we have been granted access to our rightful place in the heavenlies with Jesus, through the blood of His cross. The heavenly realms are not just for Jesus or for those who have died, but for every saved believer here and now! Many in the church do not have the eyes of their understanding opened to see or to understand spiritual realities that have been given to us. Many people live spiritually defeated lives by not walking in the joy and peace that Jesus paid for them. Many saved and spirit filled Christians take anti-depression drugs just like to world to make it through their day. This should not be because we have the highest high there is in the entire universe if we will just take the time to go there for free!
In order for the church to ascend into the heavenly realms that God created in Genesis 1:1, we are going to have to know how to get there and how to stay there, because the times we live in demand it. The earth is now reeling with birth pains one after the other, it will only get worse until the kingdom is birthed and the sons of God are fully manifested in the earth. (Romans 8:19).
Adam walked with God in the garden daily. God was not born of this earth for this to come to past, oh no! Adam was both physical and spiritual, he knew from creation that he could ascend into the heavens and have fellowship with God continually. But satan stole this right from man in the fall and man became completely earthly, but Jesus won the right back for us to ascend into the heavenly realm. Yet two thousand years later only a few people out of billions know how to ascend to the throne room of grace daily to walk in spiritual places with God. This is why we are admonished to walk in the Spirit and we will not fulfill the desires of our flesh (Gal 5:16). If we do this on a daily basis, the spirit world will become so real in our daily walk with Jesus that we will not want to walk in the power of our flesh. We will see clearly how vile and deadly sin is to us, and our walk with God.
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:6-7 NIV).
My hope is that by the time you are done reading this, you will have greater understanding about the spiritual realms of God. Knowing how to stay in your rightful place in the heavenlies through all that is shaking the earth and your life. There is a way out of all of this junk that is going on in the earth, and it is for us to live daily in the heavenlies!
So rejoice you heavens and all who live there! But it will be terrible for the earth and sea, because the devil has gone down to you. He is filled with anger. He knows he doesn't have much time (Rev 12:12 Easy-to-Read Version).
Are you living and abiding in God’s heavenly realm daily? This is how the five virgins prepared themselves and stayed filled with the oil of His presence and were ready at His coming. Our ascending into His presence through thanksgiving, worship, and fellowshipping with God is the only protection we have in our day from the enemy’s strong attacks.
And He was saying to them, "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power." And six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them (Mark 9:1-2 NAS).
Jesus prophesied to His disciples that the kingdom of God was coming in power to some of those standing there. Then Jesus gave Peter, James, and John a crash course in how to ascend into the heavenly realm with Him to receive prophetic impartation. The Bible uses many analogies to help us understand spiritual realities. By Jesus going up a literal mountain is one of those ways to help us understand the kingdom. By going up this mountain they received a prophetic experience that they would not have learned any other way and would not soon be forgotten. In fact it so moved Peter that he was still writing about this experience in 2 Peter 1:18 when he was nearing the end of his life on earth. Jesus being changed right before their eyes, they saw both Moses and Elijah and heard the audible voice of the Father! How would you like this to have happened all in one day? It will, if you will climb higher into the realms of God, for this is normal Christianity! I have never seen Moses, but I have been visited by the Lord many times and have seen large and small angels that have come to minister or to speak with me. Its not that they come into our realm, but that we have ascended into theirs when we have these types of experiences. Peter climbed the mountain with the Lord to have these experiences, and so must we, for God is not respecter of people.
The Christian life is hard at times and even unbearable, can you relate? These are the times we must press into God because we are ascending into realms unknown to us. Just as someone climbs Mt. Everest they must put forth all their energy to make it to the top. So must we!
If our desire is to be transfigured into the likeness of Jesus we are going to have to know how to ascend spiritual Mount Zion, the high mountain. Then we too can receive God’s power and be changed into His likeness on the mountain (see Rev. 14:1). It was on the seventh day after Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom of God was coming in power in Mark 9:2. This prophetically points to our time now that we are living in, the seventh millennium, otherwise known as the seventh day or the seventh trumpet. Man has worked for six thousand years after the fall; the sixth day being the day the God created man. Now we are entering the time of the kingdom where we rest in God’s power and works to bring forth the kingdom reign of Christ. And the seventh angel sounded; and there arose loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever" (Rev 11:15 NAS).
Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is My beloved Son, listen to Him" (Mark 9:7 NAS)!
This was a wake up call to these men and it should be to everyone who has ever read them. The Father has one message for us, "This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!" If we the body of Christ would listen to Jesus, our outcome in life will fare much better for us in the end, rather than trying to do it our own way. What don’t we get about this? So many people in the church are stuck in religion like the Pharisees of old that they cannot get out of it to follow the Lord’s voice. The religious system will not allow you to follow the Lord’s voice because His ways are so much higher than ours, it simply does not make any sense whatsoever to the natural mind. Because God wants us to live by faith and not by sight, and this means that we have to trust Him in every step that we make.
Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves. (Mark 9:8 NKJV).
This verse is the key to the whole story. They only saw Jesus! To keep all our prophetic experiences in right perspective and in check we must only be looking and listening to Jesus. When our prophetic experiences and everybody else is gone Jesus will be there with us. You can take that to the bank!
"… When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men" (Eph 4:8 NKJV).
When Jesus ascended on high He did not go alone, oh no, just as He did not climb the high mountain alone while He was in His physical body on the earth. He took Peter, James, and John with Him to the top because these three men represent those who are closest to Him throughout time. John was so close to Him that he laid his head upon Jesus’ breast at the Last Supper. And in order for us to ascend the mountain we too will have to be having intimacy with Him. Only these three men out of all the people on the earth saw Jesus as the glorified Christ, while all the others only saw His works among men. To this day He continues to reveal Himself and His secrets to those who will continually draw near to the heart of God through yielding themselves to prayer, thanksgiving, and worship.
The truth of the matter is, He is constantly ascending and descending with His people and upon His people to bring glory to the Father. “He led captivity captive.” Jesus opened the way back to the spirit realm for us when He died on the cross, and when the veil of the temple was torn in two giving us access to the realm of God’s throne. We were once in captivity to serving our flesh and earthly things, but we were set free by the blood of Jesus. He set us free to follow Him into heavenly places to learn of the higher supernatural things of God, like love, forgiveness, and overcoming the flesh. The sad thing is that many Christians are like Lots wife, when judgement came on Sodom and Gomorrah she looked back because she loved the things of the world more the mountains (revelations of God) that she was called to climb for safety in God. Many Christians love the things of this world more than the riches of the kingdom, because they see so little eternal value in the truths of God’s word and giving their lives to follow Him wholeheartedly.
Jesus ascended to give spiritual/heavenly gifts to His body; these gifts are given as mantles, callings, and anointings to His people who will take the time to ascend with Him into the realms of God. If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth (Col 3:1-2 NAS). He is just waiting for people to come, but very few will spend the needed hours with Him to receive these awesome treasures of heaven that will last for eternity. God has much to give you so that you will give it away to others. Will you take the time to ascend with Jesus to be a receiver of the greater revelation of Him, then descend to give it away to others? The kingdom blessing is upon those who give it away, not to those who keep it to themselves. The more you give, the more you get!
Now this, "He ascended" — what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things (Eph 4:9-10 NKJV).
This is one of my favorite verses on ascending in Jesus. For as He is, so are we (see 1 John 4:17). We are in Him and He is in us, there is no limit where we can go in the heights of God. Many people use this verse to say that Jesus descended to hell to carry the people to heaven with Him. This could or could not be true. But we who are saved by His blood know without a doubt that Jesus descended spiritually into the depths of our wicked heart. Which is a hell in itself! We can confidently say, “He descended into man’s lowest earth so that we could ascend out of the depths of death and despair.” We can clearly see that He first descended so that He can teach us how to ascend with Him at anytime and through any situation. Nothing in or upon this earth has the power to overcome us and to keep us from ascending with Him if we will continually ascend with Jesus through the good and bad times of life.
Mother eagles have to stir up their nests so that the little eaglets will get out and learn how to fly. This is not always an easy process for them because they have become so comfortable with being fed daily by their parents while sitting in a soft nest. Until the mother eagle throws out all the bedding and the eaglets have to sit on the hard sticks getting hungry. Hunger can be a great motivator would you not say?
I think that is what God does to us, He gets us hungry for Him when we are sitting in church all comfortable being spoon fed by the pastor every Sunday. Until one day we say, “Well I’m not being fed here anymore, then we look elsewhere until we decide to start seeking God on our own and to soar in heavenly places with Jesus. Then we find that He will always feed us what and when we need it, not just looking to other people to feed us, but to the Lord alone. He will use other anointed people through the ages to give us what we need. I lived five years of my life in the middle of South Dakota and Jesus gave me what I needed to grow spiritually. God will find you in your wilderness and give you spiritual drink and food if you will just take the time to seek Him with all your heart. He did it for Moses, Jesus, and Paul, and He will do it for you! In this information age that we live in, God has no trouble getting the right materials into our hands if we will just take the time to read it.
And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was departing, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them; and they also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven" (Acts 1:9-11 NAS).
The church has labeled this event of Jesus going into heaven “The Ascension Day.” Meaning that He left the physical earth and will not return until His Second Advent or the Second Coming. But is this true? Absolutely not! He said in John 14:3, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” Where did He go, where will He receive us? In the spirit realm, the heavenly places where we now sit with Him and where He now abides. This means that, we must learn how to walk with Him in this heavenly realm as Adam walked with God in the spirit. This is where we receive His strength and blessing in our inner man so that we might be a blessing to others. We do not have to wait to die to go to heaven, we are already there in Christ because we are seated in Him.
God revealed these wonderful truths long ago of the mysterious spirit world that surrounds us to Jacob in Genesis 28:12. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. These angels have had access to the earth since the beginning of time. Even though Adam and Eve had access to the heavenly realm in the garden they soon lost this right and two angels blocked their way to the tree of life with flaming swords. Jesus bought this right back for us and demonstrated what a heavenly man looks like and how we are to live in this fallen world through our access to the spiritual world.
God’s angels are more involved in the affairs of this world then we know of and give them credit for things going right. As Christians many times when something goes wrong we blame demons for messing up our plans, but when is the last time you heard someone thanking God for the angels that helped get something right? They are constantly working for and with the heirs of salvation to bring about God’s will in the earth.
We must know that since Jesus died, everyday is our ascension day, and if we do not know how to ascend the angels are here to help us to ascend into the presence of God. This is our right as believers in Jesus! If you are living life in fear and depression with no joy, I can assure you that you are not living the ascending lifestyle that Jesus paid for. He said in John 17:13, “…that they may have My joy made full in themselves.” Are you living in His supernatural joy everyday? If not, you must learn the ascending lifestyle, because in God’s presence is fullness of Joy. This is the kingdom message!
When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, Does this offend you? What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? (John 6:61-62 NKJV).
The book of John gives us many great insights into the ascending lifestyle from the words and life experiences of Jesus. Jesus was trying to teach His disciples and the people who were listening on how we are raised up into heavenly places while we are still upon this earth. But few could hear and many turned away from following Jesus because things got too deep for them and they simply stopped following Him. He then turned to His disciples if they were also were going to stop following, but they replied with great wisdom in John 6:68, “But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Even though they could not understand because their spiritual understanding was not fully developed, yet they trusted Jesus because they knew He was the long awaited Christ and had seen the power of God working in and through Him.
Jesus knew what it was like to live the ascended lifestyle while walking on the earth at the same time. He said in John 3:13, “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.” Very few Christians know how to walk in heavenly places because few have been taught on the subject, but that is about to change! Jesus taught about it because He lived it! And so must we if we are going to go high enough into the realms of God to bring heaven [the kingdom] to earth. (See Rev. 21:1-11). God wants an ascending and descending people; will you be one?
And he saith to him, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, henceforth ye shall see the heaven opened, and the messengers of God going up and coming down upon the Son of Man.' (John 1:51 YLT).
Please hear what Jesus is saying. He is our access point [latter] to the spiritual, heavenly realm for us. And if we desire to partake of spiritual realities [heavenly bread and drink,] which He is to us, we too will have to go where His is by ascending to get it. (See John 6:35). We are the messengers of God that are to receive spiritual food from heaven and give it to the people of earth much like Jacob saw the angels going down and up the stairway to heaven. This is the problem with most churches and pastors; they do not know how to ascend during the week to hear from God to get the message from heaven to give to the people in the church. The people receive nothing from heaven and go away as empty as when they came and wonder why they ever came there in the first place.
Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things (John 3:10-13 NKJV)?
HOW WILL YOU BELIEVE IF I TELL YOU HEAVENLY THINGS? Jesus is speaking with a supposedly spiritual man and has to rebuke him because he is blinded by his religion and cannot see the truth incarnate standing right before him. Truly only a born again Spirit filled person can see or understand these things and then it can be challenging. One must be born again so that they are not blind to seeing these things, yet Jesus went on to say that a person cannot even enter the kingdom by ascending into the realms of God unless they are born from above. Does this offend you? (See John 3:3,5,13). We must believe that there is more for us everyday by ascending through thanksgiving, praise, worship, and just waiting in the presence of God and walking in love. This is the ascending lifestyle!
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:14-15 NKJV).
When the cross first lifted Jesus up from the earth it was a sign of His heavenly ascension that was soon to follow. His ascension came after His resurrection, and then He was able to raise others up with Him in the spirit. He now covers all things, in all realms and is above all. We are now invited daily to sit with Him in heavenly places to dine and drink in His realm, which takes place inside of us, because Jesus fills all and is all in all. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me (Rev 3:20 NAS). This is our invitation and quest, to enter His realm and drink and eat of spiritual truth, which He is.
This is one of the greatest promises in all of Scripture that we can now sit with Him in the heavenlies and partake of Him. Yet He gives us even a greater promise, which is to be raised up to sit with Him upon His throne and to become like Him. (See Rev. 3:21). He tells us four times in the book of John 6:39,40,44,54 that He will raise us up in the last day. The last day is the day of the Lord when we will rule and reign with Him on the earth. This is now being offered to us if we would ascend daily and sit at His banqueting table and partake of Him. The question for us is, are you going to take Him at His word and come to Him and bless the heart of God? “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:54 NKJV). This is the greatest offer of eternity, yet most people throughout time have turned Him away when He was calling them to sit at His banqueting table. Yet when they see Him face to face they will then desire to sit with Him upon His throne to be close to Him, but will be tuned away. (See Matt 7:23, Rev 1:7). Let this judgement be not written over our lives when we see Him, but “Well done my faithful servant enter into the joy of the Lord.” Amen and amen!
